Yesterday, a fight broke out on EVA Air flight BR8 from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) when two passengers got physical over a seat that both wanted to occupy. Three female flight attendants intervened and kept the male passengers subdued until they were met by law enforcement upon landing.

Matthew at Live and Let’s Fly shares that the argument began when one of the passengers was uncomfortable due to his seatmate coughing. He got up and found what he thought was an empty seat and settled in. When the original occupant of the seat returned from the lavatory, things got ugly. It got physical and two flight attendants restrained one of the men while other passengers handled the other.

The two men were detained upon arrival and the flight attendants should be commended for how well they handled the situation. The man who moved into the other passenger’s seat is in the wrong. He should have asked the flight attendants to be reseated. This should have never become physical and the men should be dealt with appropriately.

Anthony’s Take: The flight attendants handled the situation well and thankfully they were not injured during the altercation. It’s also good that the plane did not need to divert and inconvenience the other passengers headed to San Francisco.

So it’s not just here in the U.S. that there are crazies.
