After a late flight to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) we needed a place to sleep before hopping an early flight to Great Exuma. I wanted something close to the airport and knowing that we would be arriving after 11:00 PM and departing at 5:45 AM the next morning, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. This Hyatt Place was close enough and with a free night certificate the price was perfect.
Anthony’s Take: The Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Airport – South & Cruise Port has a convenient location and makes for a great spot whether you’re headed to the airport or taking a cruise. It has all of the standard amenities and decor of every other Hyatt Place, but it served my needs and I found it fine for a quick night’s rest.
Booking
I booked a “Standard Room Free Night” using a certificate that was expiring soon. Rates at this hotel are reasonable and the cash rate would have been $118, which I would have paid if the certificate was not about to expire. I booked a 1 King Bed (with Sofa Bed) Room. If not paying cash or using a certificate, you can expect a range of 9,000-15,000 per night when redeeming World of Hyatt points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I flew in and out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The hotel is located around 4.2 miles from the airport. I took an Uber Black and it took around 14 minutes. The cost was high at $31, but UberX was not much cheaper. Going back to the airport I was going to reserve an Uber in advance, but the app was showing between $65 and $81 in the morning. That’s outrageous for a ride that takes 15 minutes. I negotiated a rate with the driver for half the price and paid him cash directly.
Location
The hotel is located in Dania Beach not far from the airport or cruise port. There are multiple restaurants and a movie theater near the hotel.
Check-in
I arrived at the hotel around 11:00 PM. The room was ready (as expected). The agent was friendly, but rushing as her shift was ending. She handed me two keys and was about to walk away. I didn’t need late checkout, wasn’t looking for an upgrade (this Hyatt Place has no suites, anyway), but I did want water. She said we could grab them from the cooler and with that she was gone. Another agent took over the desk and was helping guests in between bartending.
The hallways are standard issue Hyatt Place. Things were in good repair and clean throughout.
1 King Bed (with Sofa Bed) (Room 309)
There are 149 rooms at the hotel.
When you enter the room, there is a sofa and table to the right.
A TV, ice bucket, and glasses were across from the living room area.
The kitchen setup is to the left. Here you’ll find a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, and coffee plus condiments.
The refrigerator is empty with plenty of room for your personal items.
The coffee setup included tea bags, coffee, powdered creamer, sugar, and other sweeteners.
A desk was found across from the kitchen setup.
Further in the room was a king-sized bed, two nightstands, and plenty of outlets.
The bathroom was across from the bed. The vanity and sink were in the room with a closet to the side (not pictured). The closet had an iron and ironing board inside.
The bathroom was pretty tight with a toilet and glass shower inside.
Toiletries are KenetMD brand (Hyatt Place’s brand standard) in large bottles adhered to the wall in the shower.
Breakfast
Like all Hyatt Place locations, this one offers complimentary breakfast. The breakfast room off of the lobby was empty when we arrived and we left before it was set up.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, computers for guest use, an ATM, snacks and drinks for sale by the front desk, and a pool. I did not get to check out any of the amenities as my stay was too short.
The ATM was near the elevators.
Additional lobby seating.
Even more seating.
The computers are located in the lobby by the front desk.
The outdoor pool is on the ground level in the back.
The fitness center was also on the ground floor.

Overall Impression:
The Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Airport – South & Cruise Port is a standard Hyatt Place. It was clean, the staff was fine, and it served my needs for a quick night.

I’ve stayed at that hotel a few times and agree with you. Pretty good cookie-cutter Hyatt Place with plenty around within walking distance (if you want to melt in the summer). An airline I used to work for used it as a crew hotel so us HDQ types got put there on business as they extended same rate. I looked at it for my last trip a couple months ago where I needed a room just for a Friday night… of course spring cruise season and the going rate was about $300.
They offer a free Airport shuttle
