The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and CLEAR announced today that it has added CLEAR enrollment services at participating airports. CLEAR will offer in-person TSA PreCheck® enrollments and renewals at three US airports.

Since TSA first launched the TSA PreCheck® program as a DHS Trusted Traveler Program for low-risk travelers in December 2013, more than 19 million passengers have enrolled. Travelers will enroll or renew at CLEAR’s dedicated TSA PreCheck® airport enrollment pods at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Sacramento International Airport (SMF). CLEAR expects to add additional enrollment locations in the near future. The TSA PreCheck® program’s official website has more information about renewing or enrolling.

CLEAR TSA PreCheck

Through this partnership, you will receive a discount when renewing through CLEAR. Renew online for $68.95 or in person for $77.95. If you have Global Entry then you automatically get TSA PreCheck®. This is how I get the benefits. I also receive a free CLEAR membership based on my elite status with Delta (Diamond Medallion) and United Airlines (Premier 1K®). My Global Entry is reimbursed by The Platinum Card® from American Express.

Anthony’s Take: If you’re looking to get or renew both TSA PreCheck® and CLEAR Plus, this is a good opportunity. If you have Global Entry (and therefore TSA PreCheck®) or get it free from a credit card it won’t hold much appeal.

Wow, this seems mundane but is a pretty big deal. I wonder if they bill it as “CLEAR” or some government fee. If billed through CLEAR this might trigger credit cards with CLEAR reimbursement like Amex Platinum.
