Arguably, one of the most generous benefits of the World of Hyatt program is that top-tier elite members (known as Globalists) get free breakfast at every hotel. This is not the confusing mess that is Marriott’s breakfast benefit where some hotels provide a full breakfast, others continental, and even more nothing. One hotel that recently joined the Hyatt portfolio is the Rio Hotel & Casino (full review here). When it joined the Hyatt program a few months back it was offering a selection from the entire menu. Now, it has created a limited Globalist menu at Hash House A Go Go.

I booked a room at the Rio Hotel & Casino in March. At the time, I did not have the opportunity to take advantage of the breakfast, but was told that it was a full breakfast (including any one entree, juice, and coffee) and that taxes and gratuity were included.
This is in line with the benefit outlined by World of Hyatt. The Rio Hotel & Casino is still complying with Hyatt’s terms, but it’s doing the bare minimum. Here is what is now offered:
- THE BASIC 2 EGG BREAKFAST: Any style, served with potatoes and your choice of bacon, sausage links, turkey sausage patties, plus fruit garnish and biscuit or toast.
- HEALTHY START: Egg whites omelet with fresh spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms, served with our fresh fruit plate!
- CLASSIC BUTTERMILK FLAPJACK
- VANILLA WAFFLE
Guests choose one: Coffee, Hot Tea, Hot Chocolate, Espresso, Latte, Mocha, or Cappuccino
Guests also choose: Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Grapefruit Juice, Lemonade, or Soda
Breakfast is served between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM. The regular menu at Hash House A Go Go has many, many other options including the namesake hash.
The Rio Hotel & Casino is doing the minimum of what is required. These are clearly the cheapest options on the general menu and a quick cost-cutting measure done only months after joining World of Hyatt.
Anthony’s Take: The Rio Hotel & Casino was too good of a deal. I guess you can’t expect much on sub-$100 rooms, but a few more breakfast options would go a bit further here.
