Hyatt has announced more than 30 new hotels in the works for the Caribbean and Latin America as it continues to expand its presence in the region. Through 2027, Hyatt will open hotels in Mexico, St. Lucia, the Dominican Republic, Curacao, Peru, and more.

Destination by Hyatt

The Destination by Hyatt brand is a diverse collection of independent hotels, resorts and residences. The brand will make its debut in Latin America with two properties. These include:

Dreams Curacao

Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection (Dreams, Secrets, and Breathless)

I’m not a fan of all-inclusive hotels, but Hyatt keeps adding them to its portfolio while extending existing properties. Three brands that fall within Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection and will see new properties and expansions include Dreams, Secrets, and Breathless. These are the new properties that are slated to open:

  • Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino (expected to open in July 2024; this is an adults-only expansion)
  • Dreams Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort (expected to open in summer 2024; this is a family-friendly expansion)
  • Dreams Sapphire Resort & Spa (expected to open in 2024; this is a family-friendly expansion)
  • Secrets Playa Esmeralda Punta Cana (expected to open in 2024)
  • Dreams Playa Esmeralda Punta Cana (expected to open in 2024)
  • Secrets Baby Beach Aruba (expected to open in 2025)
  • Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa (expected to open in 2025)
  • Breathless Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa (expected to open in 2025)

Hyatt Centric San Jose

Boundless Collection

Hyatt’s Boundless Collection hotels are each designed around the distinctive culture of their locale. New hotels include:

Grand Hyatt Los Cabos

Timeless Collection

The Timeless Collection includes brands like Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt. These hotels offer an elevated experience and a bit of luxury in the Caribbean. New hotels include:

World of Hyatt members can find savings and special offers for Hyatt properties in Mexico and Brazil as well as other Caribbean and Latin American destinations. These offers include:

  • Book your stay at participating Hyatt hotels in Mexico or Brazil by May 31, 2024 and enjoy up to 25% off hotels in Mexico with offer code LACMX and up to 20% off hotels in Brazil with offer code LACBR for stays now through August 31, 2024.
  • Participating properties from the Mr & Mrs Smith portfolio add more than 20 new, sought-after countries to World of Hyatt in Latin America & Caribbean destinations such as Bolivia, Ecuador and Dominica.

Anthony’s Take: World of Hyatt is my favorite hotel loyalty program. I’m on my way to Lifetime Globalist and I love many of the hotels in the portfolio. The loss of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and MGM Resorts were both sad, but I’m excited about the addition of Mr & Mrs Smith (even as other bloggers lament the increased cost of redemptions). Some of these new properties are exciting and I hope to check them out.

I’m a Hyatt globalist and I’m so surprised that the SLH loss and Mr and Mrs Smith mess is barely acknowledged by the blogging community. SLH had value with hotels bookable at reasonable points. Mr and Mrs is a joke, a complete zero, useless. It’s a giant step backwards for the program, and everyone keeps praising Hyatt. If Marriott made the same move you all would be all over them.

My take is a bit different. I enjoyed earning nights and points with SLH as part of Hyatt, but used the addition to earn more than redeem. I see the same possibility for Mr & Mrs Smith. I am excited to see how Hilton fully incorporates SLH and what opps are there as well.

While I see where you’re coming from I do think that recognizing that your situation is a pretty rare one might frame the recent disappointments with WOH a little better. Nick at FM recently wrote about it and did a great job of putting into context how Hyatt has been on a bit of a roll the past handfull of years in notably devaluing their program. Unfortunately, pretty much all of the changes they’ve made are negative and these lovely new hotels are only available at either a cash price that few can afford outside of very special occasions like a 20th anniversary or an increasingly horrific number of points.

I’m a Globalist myself and won’t pretend that there’s not good value to be found anywhere in WOH but it sure looks like Hyatt is actively trying to reduce or kill off that value. Scam fees, bs games with upgrades, intentional reduction in breakfast benefits, etc. reflect poorly on Hyatt. Charging large and rapidly increasing amounts of cash or points for all-inclusives doesn’t exactly scream “Welcome” either. I’m truly glad that you’re in a position to enjoy the increasing Hyatt options as you seem a very decent guy but unfortunately most of the rest of us are getting squeezed out in a gradual fashion. Can you honestly come up with the last few changes Hyatt made that were improvements for you?
