Austrian Airlines is adding service between Vienna Airport (VIE) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on July 1st. This will be the sixth airport that Austrian will fly to in the United States.

Austrian will fly the route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as every other Tuesday on a Boeing 767-300ER with 211 seats. This includes 24 Business Class, 30 Premium Economy, and 157 Economy Class seats. In addition to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Austrian currently flies to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

I’ve flown Austrian intra-Europe, but never longhaul. I’ve seen other reviews rave about the “Flying Chef” that works onboard for catering and coffee selection onboard in Business Class. With the addition of this route, the Lufthansa Group will fly from Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA), Munich International Airport (MUC), and Zurich Airport (ZRH) on Lufthansa and SWISS.

Michael Trestl, Chief Commercial Officer at Austrian Airlines, said:

We are excited to announce Boston as a new and highly attractive destination. This expansion enhances our long-haul offering and strengthens the Vienna hub. Boston’s world-renowned universities, including Harvard and MIT, business connections, and the city’s unparalleled charm make it a fascinating and enticing travel destination.”

Anthony’s Take: Boston-based flyers will have a new option across the Atlantic this summer. I need to try Austrian out of Chicago soon.
