A video was posted to X on Saturday that shows a baggage handler unloading an American Airlines’ flight. He throws the suitcases, rolls them into each other as if he were bowling, and shows complete disregard for others property. Is it any wonder why I never check a bag?

The video apparently took place at Terminal E in Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). People commenting on the post say that the baggage handler is subcontracted (by Piedmont Air, which operates as American Eagle).

This Cements My Reasoning for Not Checking Bags

I check a bag almost never. I can get what I need generally in a carry-on and fly in premium cabins so I’m on the aircraft early enough to secure overhead bin space. I don’t want to wait at baggage claim and I know that the bags are not taken care of by employees. This is just one example, but there are countless others where baggage has been lost, damaged, or destroyed altogether.

Anthony’s Take: I’m guessing this baggage handler is in for some retraining if he’s not terminated. He shows a complete disregard for others belongings and I hope he is dealt with appropriately.

No joke, this is far higher quality baggage handling that I’m used to with AA. They’ve put huge dents in two different hard shell cases of mine over the past year. If the video were the extent of the AA baggage shenanigans, it would be a massive upgrade and I’d honestly be fine with it.

AA gets what they pay for! AA employee or third-party contractor?
