American Airlines has added service from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) in direct response to Breeze Airways’ new route, which it announced in March (more here). American is not taking kindly to Breeze treading on its turf out of the carrier’s Texas hub.

In addition to the flights to/from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), American Airlines will also commence flights to/from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Both routes will be served by American Eagle using a CRJ-700 aircraft.

If you’re not familiar, Breeze Airways is a low-cost airline that offers point-to-point flights to underserved markets across the United States using a fleet of modern Airbus A220 aircraft. I recently flew Breeze for a second time and loved the experience (you can read the full review here). Travel & Leisure named it as one of the five best US airlines for the second consecutive year in 2023. Breeze serves 60 cities in 31 states.

Anthony’s Take: As we have seen with other airlines starting routes from American, Delta, and United hubs, the airlines tend to react and add service to counter these invasions. Hopefully, this will help keep prices in check and potentially provide some deals for passengers.
