Alaska Airlines is offering passengers the largest summer schedule in the company’s history. This includes new nonstop routes and international destinations that have never been served before. The airline has added almost one million seats for the peak summer period (June through August).

Over Memorial Day weekend, Alaska flew more than 500,000 passengers (this is 6% more people compared to 2023). Here are some stats that Alaska has shared for its summer plans:

  • Alaska has added nearly 10% more flights to its most popular destinations.
  • New nonstop routes connect Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Portland International Airport (PDX) and Nashville International Airport (BNA), and San Diego International Airport (SAN) with both Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).
  • New international destinations have been added, including Guatemala City’s La Aurora International Airport (GUA), Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
  • Hubs are growing to include 16% more flights in Portland International Airport (PDX), 10% more in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), 23% more at San Diego International Airport (SAN), and 13% more at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).
  • This fall, Alaska will grow Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) departures by 33%.
  • Alaska also offers more flights to Mexico from the West Coast than any other US airline.

Alaska Airlines New Menu 1

Alaska is also making the travel experience more fun and tasty with some new options for passengers this summer. These include:

  • Surprise upgrades through a program called “upgrade unlocked!” Every day this summer Alaska is surprising at least one guest seated in our Main Cabin to Premium Class as a thank you (more here).
  • The expansion of its pre-order for-purchase hot meal options to Premium Class and the Main Cabin for flights over 1,100 miles (more here).

Andrew Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer at Alaska Airlines, said:

As best-in-class operators, our top priority is consistently delivering on our promise to guests to take them where they’re going safely and on time – all while showing them the care for which we’re known. This summer, we’re prepared to do more flying and welcome more guests to experience not only a safe operation, but also a premium experience. We’ve been hard at work on elevating all aspects of the travel journey for our guests from start to finish.”

Anthony’s Take: It’s gearing up to be another banner year for the airlines and Alaska is doing its part to meet demand with more flights and more seats.
