The National Weather Service reported that a tornado touched down near Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) this evening. This prompted a ground stop, hundreds of flights to be disrupted, and passengers to take shelter at the airport.
A confirmed tornado is on the ground near O'Hare airport! This tornado has been touching the ground intermittently so far and is moving east. There are additional circulations along the line south of O'Hare. Seek shelter if in the warned area! https://t.co/lirNZotdNn

I could hear the sirens blaring and got several alerts of the tornado at my downtown Chicago home, but we didn’t see anything other than some rain.

Passengers huddled in the walkway between Concourses B and C. I just hope they turned off “Rhapsody in Blue” as listening to that over and over while in a potential emergency situation is fairly torturous.

In the end, a rainbow appeared over the city. Unfortunately, about 10,000 people lost power northwest of the city and thousands of travelers had their plans impacted tonight.
Anthony’s Take: It seems that the tornado didn’t cause too much damage. Hearing the sirens blaring and phones blowing up with alerts is eerie. I have not seen any reports of injuries or deaths and I hope that none emerge.
