Delta Air Lines is doubling down on its premium strategy at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), with plans to open a second Delta One® Lounge in Terminal 2 as part of a broader investment in its growing Southern California hub.
Travelers passing through Terminal 2 this week may notice new construction signage appearing as work begins on the new facility, which will bring Delta’s signature Delta One® Lounge experience (including full-service dining and elevated amenities) to another section of the airline’s sprawling Los Angeles oepration.
The new lounge marks the first phase of a larger transformation planned for Terminal 2. While the lounge will open in the near future, Delta has already outlined plans for a comprehensive renovation and redesign of the space in 2028 to incorporate upgraded interiors and enhanced guest experiences.

Premium travelers will continue to enjoy Delta’s increasingly popular “curb-to-cloud” experience, which includes dedicated Delta One® check-in facilities, private security screening, and exclusive transportation directly to the lounge before departure. The expansion comes as Delta continues to strengthen its position as the largest carrier at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The airline is preparing to launch new nonstop service to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on June 6th and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) on June 7th as part of a broader summer growth strategy.
The additional Delta One® Lounge is designed to support increasing demand from premium travelers flying both long-haul international routes and key domestic business markets from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The project is also part of Delta’s long-term investment strategy ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. As an inaugural founding partner of LA28, Delta is investing heavily in its airport infrastructure to accommodate the expected surge in visitors and premium travelers during the global event.
Beyond the new Delta One® Lounge, the airline plans to open a brand-new Delta Sky Club® in Terminal 2 in 2027, followed by the full renovation of the Delta One® Lounge in 2028. Taken together, the projects represent a significant multi-year investment in Delta’s Los Angeles operation and reinforce the airline’s commitment to positioning LAX as one of its most important domestic and international gateways.
Anthony’s Take: This is exciting news. As competition for premium travelers intensifies among US carriers, Delta’s latest lounge expansion underscores the growing importance airlines place on delivering a seamless luxury travel experience from the moment passengers arrive at the airport until they board their flight.
