Marriott is expanding its luxury footprint in Peru through two major hotel conversions in Lima that will bring both The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott properties to new locations in the Peruvian capital by 2028.
Under the plans, the current JW Marriott Hotel Lima in the Miraflores district will be converted into The Ritz-Carlton, Lima. The former Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center in the San Isidro financial district will become the new JW Marriott Hotel Lima at Paseo Begonias. The projects expand Marriott’s luxury portfolio in South America and further position Lima as one of the region’s emerging high-end travel destinations.
The Ritz-Carlton, Lima is expected to become only the second Ritz-Carlton property in South America, strengthening the brand’s presence in Latin America alongside existing luxury destinations in Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile, and the Caribbean. The conversion reflects growing international demand for luxury travel experiences in Lima, which has become increasingly recognized for its culinary scene, cultural heritage, and modern urban development.
Located in the upscale Miraflores district overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the future Ritz-Carlton property is expected to cater to affluent leisure and business travelers seeking luxury accommodations in the heart of the city.
At the same time, Marriott will reposition the former Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center into the new JW Marriott Hotel Lima in the Paseo Begonias development. The property will bring JW Marriott’s wellness-focused luxury concept to Lima’s business and convention district while strengthening Marriott’s presence in Peru’s corporate travel market. Paseo Begonias has emerged as one of Lima’s most prominent mixed-use developments. It combines office towers, retail space, dining, and hospitality offerings into a single urban destination. The new JW Marriott Hotel Lima is expected to appeal to both international business travelers and luxury leisure guests visiting the city.
The dual conversions underscore Marriott’s long-term investment in Peru and its confidence in Lima’s growing status as a major South American destination for luxury tourism and international business travel.

Marriott already maintains a significant luxury presence across Peru, including:
- Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Cusco
- JW Marriott El Convento Cusco
- Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel (review here)
- Hotel Paracas, a Luxury Collection Resort
Anthony’s Take: I loved Peru. Lima was a great city to explore and Machu Picchu was incredible (minus the altitude sickness in Cusco). These are some great new options.
