We flew United Airlines from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) after visiting family in New Jersey for Thanksgiving. Our connection was on British Airways to Copenhagen Airport (CPH) out of Terminal 5. While we were flying in Business Class, my newly earned Executive Platinum status (which comes with oneworld® Emerald status) got us into the British Airways Galleries First Lounge in Terminal 5 at London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
The British Airways Galleries First Lounge in London Heathrow (LHR) is located in Terminal 5 South. You need to take an escalator up in order to access the lounge. It’s part of a complex of several British Airways lounges. There is a dedicated check-in area and security that lets out right at the lounge. We were connecting and did not get to experience this perk.

Access
Access is granted to passengers with British Airways Gold status, oneworld® Emerald status, or those traveling in First Class. You are permitted to bring a guest in with you. A desk checks credentials and directed many passengers to other lounges.

Anthony’s Take: I loved how the lounge was decked out for the holidays. This might be the most festive lounge I have ever been in. There were wreaths, Christmas trees, and more everywhere you looked. The lounge offered a ton of tasty food, great bar, showers, and other amenities. This is a great space to relax and work in before a flight.

Everywhere I looked, it was Christmas.

Bar
All beverages in the lounge were self serve except for a bar on the left side that offered bartender-made cocktails (pictured above). There were several options for beverages throughout the lounge.

Several areas had wine and other beverages.

Coffee machines were also found in several areas.

There was a nice assortment of beer, liquor, and soft drinks.

Several types of flavored water were on offer.

More water

Beverages could also be ordered to your seats thanks to QR codes. You need a code to do this (it was “Vindaloo” when I visited), which seems odd as anyone can order them.

Food
Breakfast and then lunch was being served during our visit. There was a nice buffet with multiple hot dishes, breads, salads, porridge, soup, and more.

Cereal and milk

Eggs, cheese, and baked goods

Meats and cheeses

Fruit and yogurt

Porridge

Ham and scrambled eggs

Sausage and hash browns

Beans, mushrooms, and tomatoes

A separate stand offered bagels with lox and cream cheese as well as breakfast sandwiches

Croissants and bread

Salad ingredients

Roasted turkey and Sausage Wellington

Vegetables and potatoes

More hot dishes

Pasta

Chips

Snacks

Seating & Decor
There was a ton of seating in this lounge. There were tables, comfy chairs, and counters that served as individual workstations around multiple rooms. Even though there were a lot of people there, the lounge did not feel crowded. The decor was understated, but was pumped up for the holidays.

I loved the quirky horse lamps around the lounge.

Amenities
The lounge offers free Wi-Fi, shower suites, restrooms, a relaxation room with sleep pods, and the food and beverages mentioned above.

Restrooms are all unisex and private.
Overall Impression:
I loved this lounge and cannot wait to return. The food was delicious and it was quite spacious. British Airways does a great job with this lounge.
