Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has announced a significant upgrade for Business Class passengers beginning on October 1st. Through strategic partnerships with established lounge operators, SAS will expand access to high-quality lounges at key destinations across Europe and align its returning Business Class (on intra-Europe flights) with the international standards of the SkyTeam alliance.

This initiative represents a cornerstone of SAS’s long-term strategy to strengthen its premium offerings and deliver a seamless, consistent experience for travelers across its growing network.

Starting October 1st, SAS customers flying in Business Class and those with SkyTeam Elite Plus  status will enjoy expanded lounge access at approximately 35 airports. These include:

  • Northern Europe: Aalborg Airport (AAL), Bergen Airport (BGO), Billund Airport (BLL), Stavanger Airport (SVG), Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL)
  • UK & Ireland: Aberdeen Airport (ABZ), Edinburgh Airport (EDI), Manchester Airport (MAN)
  • Southern Europe: Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport  (ALC), Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ), Faro Airport (FAO), Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS), Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), Malta International Airport (MLA), Milan Linate Airport (LIN), Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP), Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE), Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE)
  • Central & Eastern Europe: Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN), Kraków John Paul II International Airport (KRK), Keflavík International Airport (KEF), Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), Tallinn Airport (TLL), Vilnius Čiurlionis International Airport (VNO), Wroclaw Airport (WRO)

The first wave of partner lounges will open on October 1st with additional locations added throughout the fall. SAS’ integration into SkyTeam, finalized earlier this year, plays a crucial role in this initiative. Lounge access will be fully aligned with SkyTeam’s premium standards and will ensure consistency for travelers connecting across the alliance’s global network. SkyTeam Elite Plus members will also benefit from access to these lounges (even when traveling in Economy). This strategic alignment strengthens SAS’ position within SkyTeam while delivering a consistent experience for international travelers.

Theres Briger, Head of Onground Product at SAS, said:

This is a comprehensive upgrade of our Business Class offer, with lounge access as a key part of the experience. By partnering with established lounge operators, we can quickly give our customers access to a much broader network at important destinations across Europe and Scandinavia. The goal is to offer around 35 additional lounges at year-round destinations, and we already have agreements in place in cities such as Bergen, Helsinki, Billund, Stavanger and Aalborg. Our ambition is to have as much as possible in place by October 1, while recognizing this is a dynamic process where new agreements will be finalized step by step. This means some destinations are already ready, while others will follow throughout the autumn. We will keep customers continuously informed about which lounges are available, ensuring they can plan their journey with ease and receive the experience they expect.”

Anthony’s Take: I’m pleased to see SAS continuing to improve its premium offering. These lounge additions, plus the return of SAS Business, will have me flying them more in the future.
