Earlier this month, I had to be in Columbus, OH for an event and needed a nearby hotel. The Courtyard Columbus Easton was a few-minute walk away and the perfect location for my overnight trip. The hotel is modern and comfortable. It was built in 1988, but was remodeled in 2010. Even with its last renovation being around 15 years ago, it is holding up nicely.
Anthony’s Take: This hotel was just what I needed for my overnight trip. It’s in a shopping center with a Trader Joe’s and lots of other stores. There is a lot within walking distance. The hotel itself has all you’ll really need with a pool, fitness center, nicely appointed public spaces, and a mini-market. I’d definitely stay here again if I needed to be in the area.
Booking
I booked a Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa Bed on a “Member Flexible Rate.” It was $146 per night plus taxes and fees. Rates are consistently low at this property. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 22,000 and 48,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) to the hotel and back the next morning. The ride there took around 33 minutes (it’s around 6 miles) and cost $28. Departing, the ride was around the same time and cost.
Location
The hotel is located steps away from lots of restaurants and shopping including the Easton Town Center and a Starbucks (which always makes me happy).
I liked the lobby of this hotel. It had tons of seating, which could best be described as several living rooms.
It was pretty empty the entire time I was at the hotel.
Check-In
I arrived at the hotel around 1:30 PM. My room was ready and since the hotel has no suites, I did not ask for an upgrade. I was asked if I needed a late checkout and I declined since I knew I had a morning flight. The hotel provided a cute welcome bag filled with snacks due to holding Marriott Bonvoy® elite status. I chose points as my welcome amenity for being Titanium Elite, had my keys printed, and was on my way.
The elevators are past the reception desk and to the left.
The elevator lobby and hallway on my floor were both clean and in good repair.
Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa Bed (524)
There are 126 rooms at the Courtyard Columbus Easton.
The room opened with the bathroom to the left and the bedroom straight ahead.
A closet was also near the door. An iron and ironing board, luggage rack, and extra bedding were inside.
The bathroom sink was located outside of the bathroom. I always dislike this dated design.
On the counter were two bars of unbranded soap.
The bathroom was small with a toilet and glassed-in shower. The toilet was well spaced from the shower.
The shower was a decent size and both water pressure and temperature were fine.
Toiletries were mounted to the shower wall. These were 39° North brand and included shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
The bedroom held a king-sized bed and two nightstands along with a desk, chair, a couch, dresser, and TV.
The TV was across from the bed with the TV on top.
The refrigerator was inside. It was empty for guest use.
The couch converted to a sofa bed.
The desk worked well for me to take some calls.
The bag given to me at check-in had a good assortment of snacks.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a pool (pictured above), a fitness center, a mini market, a place for printing boarding passes, and the seating above.
The fitness center is on the ground floor.
It was functional with lots of natural light.
There was no one there when I visited.
Towels and wipes were provided.
Coffee was in the lobby in the morning.
Computers for guest use were nearby.
The mini-market is next to the reception desk.
Overall Impression:
This hotel was just what I needed. If you’re traveling on business or for fun and need to be in the area, it’s a good choice. I’m sure I’ll be back given my travel schedule.
