I had attempted to visit the Capital One Lounge at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) a few times and every time it was too busy with a long wait to get in. Today, thanks to a delayed flight to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), I was finally able to check it out. This is the second location that Capital One opened in September 2023.

Anthony’s Take: Capital One runs some nice lounges. While I prefer the amazing Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) (review here), this lounge offered a nice menu of individually-sized food portions, a coffee bar, cocktails (with a full bar), private restrooms, and a grab-and-go section of sandwiches, salads, beverages, and snacks.

Seating & Décor

The décor is modern with some fun art scattered around the lounge. I liked that there were so many plants as the greenery added a nice touch.

There were multiple seating configurations including tables, comfy chairs, and counters that serve as individual workstations around the lounge.

Overall Impression:

Capital One is running some of the nicest lounges in the United States. It has a great (limited) menu, bar, and plenty of seating to work and relax. While it might not be filled with amenities, the space is well designed and a pleasure to hang out in before a flight.

Having only been to DFW and IAD Capital One lounges I have to say that IAD is by far my favorite. The modern yet retro design and feel is great and at least when I went it wasn’t nearly as crowded as DFW always is. Also, the location just after PreCheck is super handy.
