The Ambassador Chicago was part of the JdV by Hyatt brand since Hyatt acquired the Joie de Vivre Hospitality group back in 2018. Many members loved the hotel for its low-cost point redemptions and great Gold Coast location. The hotel recently announced that it is leaving World of Hyatt and becoming part of The Chicago Hotel Collection, which is a growing portfolio of independent boutique hotels.
The hotel offers 285 rooms and suites that blend historic charm with modern comforts. It has been around for almost 100 years and offers amenities like the Ambassador Room restaurant (known for its homemade pastas since the 1930s) and a 24-hour fitness center.
To celebrate the hotel becoming part of The Chicago Hotel Collection, the hotel is offering a special package. This includes:
- Complimentary VIP Travel & Lifestyle Club Membership (a $499/year value): Access exclusive savings up to 60% off on hotels, car rentals, and memorable experiences.
- 2 Cocktails Per Night: Enjoy complimentary drinks at the bar each night.
- Breakfast Buffet for Two Each Morning: Start the day with a fresh, delicious breakfast.
- $25 Restaurant.com eGift Card per Night: Redeem and enjoy at thousands of restaurants throughout the country.
- Bottles of Spring Water Daily: Stay refreshed with premium bottled water.
- Exclusive Local & Global Discounts: Savings on resort spas, boat rentals, sporting events, theater shows, shopping, and more.
- Flexible Check-In/Out: Choose either early check-in or late check-out.
While I’m not sure what the club membership entails, the rest of these perks are pretty sweet. Room rates start at $89.95.
W. Pierce Hutchings, Manager of The Chicago Hotel Collection, said:
We are thrilled to welcome Ambassador Chicago into our collection. This acquisition aligns with our vision to blend historic properties with contemporary, guest-centric experiences. Chicago is a world-class travel destination, and we’re excited to invest further in its dynamic hospitality industry. We are preserving a landmark while ushering in a new era of boutique hospitality.”
Other hotels in The Chicago Hotel Collection include locations in River North, Wrigleyville, and the Magnificent Mile.
Anthony’s Take: While many will be sad to see this property leave the Hyatt portfolio, it’s great that it is being preserved and the deal above is quite intriguing.
