American Express is planning another lounge and this time it will open in Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Massport released details today around the two-story, 20,000-square-foot Centurion® Lounge by American Express. It’s expected to open in 2027 and the renderings look gorgeous.

Amex Lounge 2027

Thrifty Traveler broke the news around the new lounge. American Express operates Centurion® Lounges globally. The Centurion® Network consists of over 40 locations including Escape Lounges – The Centurion® Studio Partner. The credit card issuer was first on the scene back in 2013. Capital One and Chase are currently working to catch up.

The new lounge at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) will be located near Gate C10. It will be built above an existing structure at the airport and will include a foliage covered “green roof” with plants and grass as well as a rooftop bar and outdoor terrace.

A large bar and a cozy fireplace area will fill the space with decor similar to other locations operated by American Express. Food and beverages are also expected to be in line with the quality we have come to expect from these lounges. When it opens in 2027, this will be one of American Express’ largest lounges with its location at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) holding the crown for the biggest at 26,000 square feet (review here).

Access to the Centurion® Lounge is given to customers carrying The Platinum Card® from American ExpressThe Business Platinum Card® from American Express, The Centurion® Card, the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card, or the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card. Cardholders are entitled to bring two guests (or immediate family with a Centurion® Card) as long as they spend over $75,000 a year on their card. If that threshold is not hit then only the cardholder can enter for free with a fee of $50 per guest ($30 for children ages 2-17) per visit.

The airport has no shortage of lounge options including the Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club (review here), three Delta Sky Club® locations by Gate A7  (review here), Gate A18 (review here), and Terminal E (this one also has a Delta One® Lounge), an American Airlines Admirals Club, a United Club℠ (review here), as well as lounges from Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Emirates. Even with all of that choice, this is a great addition to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). JetBlue will be constructing its own lounge in Terminal C in the near future when it looks to go more premium.

Anthony’s Take: Some of the American Express-operated lounges suffered from overcrowding. I’m happy to see that Amex is constructing a larger lounge to hopefully address the crowding issue before it even opens.

Anthony’s Credit Card Pick: I love the lounges where The Platinum Card® from American Express grants me access. It has had a prominent place in my wallet for many years now. While it does have an annual fee of $695, it provides many travel benefits and will always be my go-to for lounge access (both Delta Sky Clubs® and Centurion® Lounges) and booking airfare from the airlines to earn 5x points (up to $500,000 per calendar year booked directly with passenger airlines or through American Express Travel). Learn moreRates & Fees. Outdoor terrace in Boston is a fantastic investment. You can showcase it as an amenity but no one will ever use.
