Air Canada announced back in June that it was offering complimentary snacks, beer, and wine in Economy Class on domestic and transborder flights through the end of 2024. This was a really nice gesture to make flying Economy a bit nicer and now the Canadian carrier is making this a “permanent” change.

If you’re flying Air Canada, here is what you’ll experience on these flights:

  • Complimentary premium snacks are offered to Economy passengers on all Air Canada flights. These include two Canadian favorites: Alberta’s family-owned and female-led TWIGZ (buttery herb and garlic pretzels) and Quebec-based Leclerc’s Célébration Cookie.
  • Complimentary beer choices include Hop Valley, Creemore Springs Premium Lager, Molson Canadian, and Coors Light
  • Complimentary wine selections include two French wines from Paul Mas

Cocktails are not free, but Baileys Original Irish Cream, Canadian Club, Bacardi Superior, Bombay Sapphire, Smirnoff, Tromba Tequila Blanco, and Campari are each only $5 (a discounted price).

Scott O’Leary, Vice President, Loyalty & Product at Air Canada, said:

The complimentary beer and wine offering has been a well-received addition to our in-flight service, and we’re excited to make this a permanent offering in Canada and the U.S. for every customer, regardless of their chosen fare. We’re inviting travelers to relax and unwind with a drink and enjoy their favorite movie or TV show as they look forward to the holidays, with plenty more in store over the year to come, from on-ground and in-flight upgrades to new features in our world-class Aeroplan loyalty program.”

Snacks and drinks are not the only improvement to the passenger experience. Air Canada will begin offering fast, free Wi-Fi in May 2025. Complimentary service will be available to Aeroplan Members on Wi-Fi equipped flights within North American and Sun markets. This will be expanded to include long-haul international routes in 2026.

Anthony’s Take: It’s nice that Air Canada has rolled out free drinks and snacks past this month. The press release says it’s “permanent,” but that really means it’s here until the airline changes it.
