Delta Air Lines has opened its newest Sky Club® today at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). American’s fortress hub has a new lounge for Delta flyers to enjoy and it has one of the quirkiest designs I’ve ever seen Delta put forth.
The 14,000-square-foot Sky Club® is located in Concourse A on the mezzanine level, near Gate A32. It seats 246 guests and is open daily from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Charlotte is known as the “Queen City” and the design pays homage to the city’s namesake, Queen Charlotte. Delta describes it as a Neoclassic design that draws inspiration from “her long-lasting influence on fashion and aesthetics, with an emphasis on botany and bold, floral motifs. The natural elements and materials featured in the Club highlight Charlotte’s tree conservatory efforts and green spaces, honoring the city’s deep ties to nature.”
The Sky Club® offers a full buffet, two beverage stations, six soundproof booths for phones calls (I wish every lounge would add these), as well as all of the usual amenities that Delta provides in its lounges.
Claude Roussel, Vice President of Delta Sky Club® and Lounge Experience, said:
It’s always exciting to plant roots in a new market and introduce Delta Sky Club® to a new group of customersWe can’t wait for our Charlotte guests to experience the amenities and hospitality that have made our Clubs so popular across the country.”
Like all Delta Sky Clubs®, access is granted to passengers with memberships (purchased annually), one-time pass holders (earned from the co-branded American Express cards), Delta One®, SkyTeam premium cabin passengers, SkyTeam Elite Plus when flying internationally in premium cabins, the Centurion® and the Platinum Card® from American Express holders, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card holders, WestJet Business Class passengers, and WestJet Rewards Platinum and Gold Elite. Allowed guests vary by access type. A same-day boarding pass is required to enter the Delta Sky Club®.
Anthony’s Take: The design of this lounge is a departure for Delta, but I love that it feels whimsical. So many lounges are boring beige and grey. This one has energy and is a welcome addition in Charlotte.
