TSA PreCheck® has been one of the greatest additions to my travel routine and it has saved me hundreds of hours through the years. While all of the airlines that I regularly fly are participating in the program, it’s great to see that new airlines pop up frequently. Two more airlines just joined the program and the total number of participating carriers is now at 104.
The newest members of TSA PreCheck® include:
- Caribbean Airlines
- RED Air
With these additions, there are now 104 airlines that allow passengers the convenience of TSA PreCheck®.
Star Alliance is the biggest airline alliance in the world. There are some big gaps from carriers that fly to the United States but do not offer TSA PreCheck®. The following Star Alliance members do not participate: Aegean, Air China, Croatia Airlines, Egyptair, LOT Polish Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, South African Airways, and Thai. While many of these carriers are regional, Air China, Egyptair, and LOT Polish Airlines all serve US destinations and really should be members of the program.
SkyTeam has a good showing with all airlines that fly to/from the United States as members. These airlines do not participate: Aerolíneas Argentinas, China Eastern, Czech Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Kenya Airways, Middle East Airlines, TAROM, Vietnam Airlines, and XiamenAir. It’s worth noting that China Eastern, Czech Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and TAROM do not fly to the United States. The others need to join the program to make security better for their passengers.
oneworld® is the smallest of the three alliances. It has several members that do not participate in TSA PreCheck®. These include: Malaysia Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, and SriLankan Airlines. Oman Air is joining soon and it also does not participate. Both Royal Air Maroc and Royal Jordanian fly to the US and should join.
Anthony’s Take: 104 airlines is an impressive list. There are some holdouts in all three alliances that really need to join. It’s interesting that all of the low-cost carriers in the United States participate, but some foreign carriers with a decent number of US flights (like LOT Polish Airlines) are still not members.
