Tampa International Airport observed International Flamingo Day today (it’s officially celebrated on April 26th). The airport celebrated with live flamingos from Busch Gardens, someone dressed as a flamingo roaming the airport, and cupcakes given to passengers and other guests.

I love flamingos and am bummed that I missed the festivities today.

Giant Flamingo

One of my favorite things about Tampa International Airport (TPA) is the giant flamingo created by Matthew Mazzotta and titled Home. The 21-foot flamingo bids me goodbye and welcomes me home every time I am at the airport. While the installation is known as Home, locals know the flamingo as Phoebe.

The flamingo cupcakes are adorable.

Anthony’s Take: What a fun way to celebrate the fabulous, pink flamingo. The giant bird is one of my favorite parts of Tampa International Airport (TPA).
