Earlier this month, I wrote about the Rio Hotel & Casino (full review here) skimping on Globalists’ breakfast benefit with a limited menu at Hash House A Go Go. Apparently, the hotel is reversing course and once again offering Globalists their choice of all items on the regular menu again.

I booked a room at the Rio Hotel & Casino in March. At the time, I did not have the opportunity to take advantage of the breakfast, but was told that it was a full breakfast (including any one entree, juice, and coffee) and that taxes and gratuity were included. This policy changed and a limited menu was introduced for Globalists.

The Rio Hotel & Casino was still complying with Hyatt’s terms, but it was doing the bare minimum. Here is what is was offering:

  • THE BASIC 2 EGG BREAKFAST: Any style, served with potatoes and your choice of bacon, sausage links, turkey sausage patties, plus fruit garnish and biscuit or toast.
  • HEALTHY START: Egg whites omelet with fresh spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms, served with our fresh fruit plate!
  • CLASSIC BUTTERMILK FLAPJACK
  • VANILLA WAFFLE

Guests choose one: Coffee, Hot Tea, Hot Chocolate, Espresso, Latte, Mocha, or Cappuccino

Guests also choose: Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Grapefruit Juice, Lemonade, or Soda

Breakfast is served between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM. The regular menu at Hash House A Go Go has many, many other options including the namesake hash.

View from the Wing broke the news with a statement from Hyatt that the hotel was going back to offering the full menu. The statement reads:

Rio recently joined World of Hyatt and is still undergoing an extensive renovation. To make sure our members have the best experience, we are working with Rio to ensure their Globalist breakfast offerings are compliant with our program and we anticipate the changes (the removal of the limited entrée options) to be in place shortly.”

The Rio Hotel & Casino was doing the minimum of what was required. These were clearly the cheapest options on the general menu and a quick cost-cutting measure done only months after joining World of Hyatt. It’s good that Hyatt stepped in to correct this action.

Anthony’s Take: The Rio Hotel & Casino offers Globalists a great deal. Rooms can be had for under $100 and with breakfast for two, you’ll definitely get more than your money’s worth if you hold Hyatt’s top-tier elite status.
