A guest at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas set off the sprinkler system and even triggered a counterterrorism response with his homemade flamethrower. The man triggered a water flow alarm in a stairwell on September 1st, which led to an altercation with staff and 911 being called for police assistance when he allegedly lit an unknown liquid through a hose and pointed it toward them.

Gavin Hamilton, 26, faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon, arson, and drug possession. 8 News Now reports that Hamilton’s backpack contained a flammable liquid that was connected to a three-foot-long metal hose. While speaking with police, it was noted that Hamilton was covered in a black, oily substance. His backpack contained bongs, butane, a meth pipe, and the hose to make the flamethrower. He did not appear for his initial court hearing on September 2nd. Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Amy Ferriera set his bail at $34,000 and he remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.

The Fontainebleau Las Vegas is one of the newest resorts to open on the Strip. It sat dormant for many years through a series of construction and funding delays. It’s a beautiful property with some great restaurants inside.

Anthony’s Take: I guess you never know what you’re going to get in Las Vegas. It appears that drugs and potentially some mental health issues are at play here. Hopefully, he gets the help he needs and thankfully this incident was contained.

“… potentially some mental health issues…”
I would say the chance of that are 100%

Did you ever notice the lef tees always end with “probably had mental health issues…” It doesn’t even matter if they kill people, the lef tees always go back to that. I don’t want to waste public money on any person that destroys, harms, kills, or resorts to violence. I hope they lock him up and throw away the key.
