Sotheby’s is the premiere auction house for art, jewelry, wine, watches, and other luxury goods. It offered several listings through a limited partnership with Marriott International’s Luxury Group in September. Now, there are two new experiences.

The joint venture is called “Iconic Pieces. Extraordinary Experiences” and the two exclusive itineraries showcase watchmaking and a taste of France. These experiences are once in a lifetime and can be bid on now.

Ritz Carlton Geneva

“Geneva Grandmasters: A Watchmaking Odyssey” is a bespoke journey into Swiss watchmaking. It includes a stay at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva in the iconic lakefront Grace Kelly Suite (we spent New Year’s in a suite at this hotel and loved the experience). An elegant private dinner at Fiskebar, which offers Scandinavian-inspired dishes and stunning views of Lake Geneva comes that evening.

The next day, guests arrive at the Girard-Perregaux Ateliers for a private tour. It includes a meet-and-greet with the artisans and a private sale of exclusive limited-edition watch pieces. Lunch is served at the historic Girard-Perregaux villa with the CEO or a distinguished representative.

On the final day, brunch will be served in the Grace Kelly Suite with a bottle of Champagne and live cooking demonstration by the chef. Guests then receive a 30-minute wellness treatment at La Vallée Spa Wellness Suites before a guided tour of the Patek Philippe Museum. A luxury transfer to the airport is provided at the conclusion of this package. The auction takes place on December 6th and is expected to go for $10,000 to $15,000.

Sothebys Restaurant

The second auction is called a “A Taste of France: An Epicurean Voyage | Curated by The Luxury Collection.” Upon arrival at the Prince de Galles, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris, guests will be checked into the Macassar Suite and then provided with a welcome spa treatment. Following this, guests will enjoy a refined afternoon tea with delicate cakes, tea, and champagne with The Luxury Collection Global Explorer: Laila Gohar. She is known for her innovative approach to using food as a medium and her artistic works have been showcased in museums and galleries worldwide.

On the second day, the winner and guest will experience a day trip to the home of Champagne Lallier, located in Aÿ. The day includes exploring the House’s sites with representatives from the Maison, discovering the Champagne terroir and vineyards, learning the story behind the 2021 harvest, and enjoying the new Réflexion R.021 Brut and Rosé wines alongside their iconic Ouvrage expression.

After returning to the hotel later in the day, guests will experience a curated wine tasting in the hotel’s private cellar, led by an expert sommelier. The day culminates in a carefully crafted Champagne and French wine pairing dinner at the 19.20 Restaurant. The auction ends on December 10th and is expected to go for between $6,000 and $10,000.

George Hammer, Marriott International’s Global Head of Luxury Marketing, said:

There is an incredible synergy between the Luxury Group and Sotheby’s as both are underpinned by a similar passion for pioneering transformative offerings that tap into the diverse cultural passions of our clientele. We have always believed hospitality to be an art in and of itself, challenging us to reimagine the ways we engage with our guests.”

Anthony’s Take: There is a very select audience for these auctions. The packages are ultra luxe and quite exclusive.

These auctions are just at super inconvenient times and locations. They need to do some in the US. No one wants to go to Europe in the winter.
