Lufthansa announced today that its Airbus A380 aircraft will fly to five US destinations this summer from Munich International Airport (MUC) Denver International Airport (DEN) has never had this aircraft type land there.

The German carrier operates six Airbus A380 aircraft. It had 14 in total, but six were retired during the pandemic. They are all housed at its Munich International Airport (MUC) hub and will fly to the following destinations this summer:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) between March 29th and October 27th
  • Denver International Airport (DEN) between April 30th and September 30th
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) between March 1st and October 27th
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) between April 28th and October 27th
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) between April 28th and October 27th

If you were wondering, the Airbus A380 is also used by Lufthansa to serve Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) from Munich international Airport (MUC). The enormous aircraft offers a whopping 509 seats spread across eight First Class, 78 Business Class, 52 Premium Economy, and 371 Economy Class seats.

Lufthansa has been flying to Denver International Airport (DEN) from Munich International Airport (MUC) for nine years and from its other mega-hub at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) for the past 25 years. This summer will see 2x daily service from both airports. The airport offers easy connectivity to 170 destinations thanks to Lufthansa’s codeshare partner and fellow Star Alliance carrier, United Airlines.

Heiko Reitz, CCO of Lufthansa Airlines, said:

The Airbus A380 service to Denver is not only a first for Lufthansa, but also for the airport itself. It is the first time that a scheduled flight with an aircraft of this size will land there. Passengers, airport visitors and crews love the A380, the flying experience and the feeling of space. At the same time, the A380 offers more premium seats than any other aircraft.”

Anthony’s Take: I’ve flown Lufthansa’s Airbus A380 in both First Class and Business Class. I love the huge aircraft and am a big fan of Lufthansa. Hoping to catch one of these A380 flights this summer.
