I’m returning to Hong Kong in May for the first time since 2019 and I’m so excited to be heading back to one of my favorite cities in the world. With Covid-19 restrictions easing, Hong Kong is looking to get tourists back in the city.

Hong Kong Tickets

Hong Kong will offer 500,000 Cathay Pacific, HK Express, and Hong Kong Airlines tickets that will be distributed in batches (starting with those from Southeast Asia on March 1st). These tickets were purchased by the government during the shutdown to support these airlines as part of a bailout package during the pandemic.

The Airport Authority will give the tickets away in four ways including a lottery system, on a first-come, first-served basis,  through two-for-one purchases, and through upcoming games.

The schedule for the tickets will be as follows:

  • Southeast Asia (for inbound) – March 1st
  • Mainland China (for inbound) – April
  • Northeast Asia (for inbound) – May
  • Hong Kong (for outbound) – July
  • Other markets (for inbound) – May

Tickets will be in economy class and details will be updated on the Hong Kong Airport site.

Anthony’s Take: Hong Kong is giving away 500,000 free airline tickets to motivate tourists to visit this amazing city. I have my tickets already purchased and can’t wait to get back for dim sum, sightseeing, and enjoying all Hong Kong has to offer.

I would love to return to Hong Kong Wetland Park. I also really liked the Museum of Coastal defense. I haven’t checked hotel rates lately, though. Have a wonderful trip.
