Hyatt and MGM entered into a partnership several years ago where status was matched and World of Hyatt members could earn points and qualifying nights toward their status. There are now rumors on FlyerTalk that status matches are ending and that this relationship might be coming to an end altogether.
Currently, World of Hyatt members are granted status matches as outlined above. When the program began, Globalists received Platinum status with MGM. Some (myself included) were even granted MGM’s top-tier, invite-only status Noir. I have held Noir status for several years now and appreciate some of its benefits.
I have found great benefits from having this status and love that I can earn qualifying nights with World of Hyatt for my stays at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
As of now, Hyatt and MGM have not made any announcements, but it makes you wonder what is coming as more FlyerTalk members report on things that they’re hearing from phone agents. Caesars used to have a similar program with SPG, but that ended years ago and was never as rich in benefits.
Anthony’s Take: I’m hoping the rumors are wrong as I have greatly benefited from the status match and benefits provided. We’ll see what is actually announced and I’ll update as I hear more.
