Back in October, I wrote about Alaska Airlines launching the longest flight in its network with service between Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Today is the inaugural and this seasonal route will run until August 19th.

Anchorage

The New York flights will run daily on a Boeing 737-8 with 12 First Class, 30 Premium, and 117 Economy Class seats. This is a long flight to not have lie-flat seats in First Class. New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will be the 14th nonstop destination from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Other routes include:

  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
  • Denver International Airport (DEN)
  • Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
  • Portland International Airport (PDX)
  • Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
  • San Diego International Airport (SAN)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
  • Seattle Paine Field International Airport (PAE)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

Marilyn Romano, Regional Vice President for Alaska Airlines, said:

Alaskans love nonstop flights to and from the state. We like having great travel options and adding places such as New York and San Diego definitely fit the bill. During our peak summer days, we’ll have a robust flight schedule of 63 departures a day from Anchorage.”

Anthony’s Take: You’d think Alaska Airlines would have already connected Alaska and New York, but you’d be wrong. These new flights make it even easier to visit Alaska for its delicious seafood, wilderness, and cruises during the peak season.
