Last month, I wrote about Air Canada dropping Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL), and Kansas City International Airport (MCI) from its route network. Today, the Canadian carrier announced that it’s adding a trio of US cities from Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Air Canada will be adding three US routes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) starting in May and June 2025. One is year round and the other two will be seasonal. These include:

  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) (4x weekly; runs from May 1st through October 31st)
  • Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) (3x weekly; runs from June 4th through September 30th)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA) (2x weekly; starts on June 3rd)

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, and President, Cargo at Air Canada, said:

We are pleased to further expand our YVR hub with new year-round flights to Tampa, seasonal services to Raleigh and Nashville, and more capacity to AustinDenver and Miami. Air Canada continues to reinforce its position as the leading carrier between Canada and the US with new flights to fast-growing metropolitan areas and sought out destinations. Our robust network means customers in Western Canada have more options to explore all that the US has to offer, and for our American customers to explore beautiful British Columbia. At Air Canada’s Pacific gateway, our newest services further bolsters our sixth-freedom strategy by efficiently bridging North America and growing international destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.”

Air Canada New Routes

This latest route news comes shortly after Air Canada debuted the rest of its summer 2025 schedule. New seasonal routes and increased capacity to popular destinations across Europethe US, and Asia will be on offer for Canadian travelers. Air Canada will offer over 100,000 weekly seats to Europe and North Africa and more than 160,000 to the United States. This is one of the airline’s largest-ever summer schedules and many additional routes will see capacity and frequency updates.

Anthony’s Take: Air Canada has an ambitious plan for summer 2025. I’m excited to see Tampa get nonstop flights to Vancouver.
