TikTok user @cheapholidayexpert has garnered over 1.8 million views for her video where she demos wearing a fishing vest in order to pack her belongings on her person versus paying for a carry-on bag. Both The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post reported on this silly trend.
In the video, she manages to cram a portable speaker, deodorant, AirPods, a battery pack, a deck of cards, a bikini and more into the vest. She even fits her laptop into a pocket on the back of the vest.
Other videos in her “Packing Hack” series show her stuffing a bra, filling a neck pillow with clothing, and more. The trend is spreading as user @dance.likenooneswatching packed clothing for a week into her fishing vest.
There are better ways to travel, but I guess these could work if you’re on a low-cost carrier and looking to keep your spend as low as possible.
Anthony’s Take: I sometimes wonder why people go through the motions to save a few bucks when it makes them uncomfortable or look ridiculous. I’d rather save a little more money and travel with at least a carry-on bag and not all of my belongings on me while flying.

Does Tik Tok create morons or have they just been hidden this long? It brings back the old saying: “Just because you “can” doesn’t mean you “should””.
