JetBlue Airways is expanding its premium transcontinental network from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and adding new daily Mint® service to/from San Diego International Airport (SAN) while increasing Mint® flights to both Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
The daily flights to/from San Diego International Airport (SAN) will launch on November 19th and give South Florida travelers a new nonstop premium option to Southern California. According to JetBlue, it will be the only airline offering Business Class service between Fort Lauderdale and San Diego. The expansion will also bring additional Mint® frequencies to Los Angeles and San Francisco this winter, resulting in JetBlue’s largest-ever Mint® schedule from Fort Lauderdale.

With the changes, JetBlue will operate up to 8x daily flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), along with up to 3x daily flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). JetBlue’s Mint® product features fully lie-flat seats, elevated dining options, and personalized service to help the airline compete with traditional legacy carriers in premium transcontinental markets.
The expansion is part of JetBlue’s broader growth strategy in Fort Lauderdale, which has become one of the airline’s most important focus cities and a key gateway to Florida, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The carrier says it has increased daily departures from Fort Lauderdale by more than 75% this year and expects to operate approximately 150 daily flights from the airport this winter (the largest schedule in its history there).
Customers can already book the new San Diego flights through JetBlue’s website and mobile app. As part of the launch promotion, eligible TrueBlue members who book the route by June 21st can receive 2,500 bonus TrueBlue points.
Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President of Revenue, Network and Enterprise Planning at JetBlue, said:
Customers in Fort Lauderdale continue to choose JetBlue for a better coast-to-coast experience, and these additions give them even more of what they value most: more flights, more premium options and the comfort of Mint on key West Coast routes. With new Mint service to San Diego and additional flying to Los Angeles and San Francisco, we’re making it easier for South Florida travelers to get where they want to go with the service, style and value that sets JetBlue apart.”
Anthony’s Take: JetBlue is shifting to its strongest markets. The latest expansion further strengthens JetBlue’s position in South Florida while providing travelers with more premium nonstop options to key destinations on the US West Coast. The focus here after Spirit went under gives JetBlue a chance at driving revenue even though will not be enough to fully right the ship.
