Capital One is continuing to invest in its travel business. Today, it unveiled a new dedicated travel app while bringing more of the technology and operations behind its travel platform in-house. The move represents a strategic step toward building a fully integrated travel ecosystem for cardholders. As part of the transition, Capital One is consolidating the technology, talent, and supplier relationships that power Capital One Travel to allow the company to manage more of the travel experience directly. The launch of the Capital One Travel App marks the most visible result of that strategy. It provides a single platform designed to help cardholders plan, book, and manage trips more efficiently.
Since launching in 2021, Capital One Travel has become a key part of the company’s broader financial services ecosystem. According to the company, booking volumes through the platform have grown more than 10x since its debut. The expansion reflects growing demand from cardholders who want to combine travel planning with rewards earning and redemption in a single digital experience.
The newly released Capital One Travel App is now available on both iOS and Android devices. The app brings the company’s travel booking platform into a dedicated mobile experience designed specifically for travelers. Through the app, users can search and book flights, hotels, rental cars, and activities while earning or redeeming rewards points tied to their Capital One cards. The platform also includes several new features intended to simplify travel planning and management.

One of the app’s standout features (the one that I’m most excited about) is a live lounge locator that allows travelers to see real-time lounge capacity and estimated wait times at Capital One airport lounges and dining locations. Eligible travelers can also join digital waitlists directly through the app. The platform also allows cardholders to create personalized travel profiles that store preferred airports, airline loyalty numbers, and favorite hotel brands. These profiles enable quicker bookings and more tailored travel recommendations. Additional features include real-time travel updates such as gate changes and flight alerts, along with digital tools that allow travelers to modify bookings or rebook disrupted flights without needing to sign in repeatedly.
The launch of the new app is part of a broader effort by Capital One to build a full travel platform around its credit card products. The company has also been expanding its network of airport experiences, which has become a major draw for many cardholders. Capital One operates several lounges across the United States, including a flagship lounge at John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (review here).
Last month, the company also opened a Capital One Landing dining concept at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in partnership with the José Andrés Group. I have not yet tried this location, but love the one at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) (review here).
Capital One has also been expanding the range of accommodations available through its travel portal. Its Premier and Lifestyle Collection luxury hotel programs have added more brands and properties (while the platform recently introduced more than 500,000 vacation rentals). The expanded offerings helped drive a 50% year-over-year increase in booking volume during the 2025 fiscal year.
In addition to leisure travel, Capital One is also growing its presence in corporate travel services. In October 2025, the company expanded access to Capital One Business Travel with a platform designed for business cardholders that combines travel booking with automated expense management tools.
Anthony’s Take: With the launch of the new travel app and continued expansion of its travel services, Capital One is positioning itself as a larger player in the travel booking space while integrating rewards, travel planning, and airport experiences into a single ecosystem for its cardholders.
