We’re only a few weeks into 2025 and I might have found one of my new favorite lounges in the United States. Capital One entered the lounge game in 2021. It currently has three locations open with more coming this year. Capital One Lounges started the grab-and-go food and beverage concept in US lounges. It’s now upped the game further with Capital One Landings. These offer restaurant-quality meals in a whole new concept that is stylish and delicious.

The Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is 5,483 square feet and located post-security in the airport’s Terminal 2 (at the intersection of National Hall and Concourse D). This is accessible from Concourses B, C, D, and E as they are connected airside. It’s open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Access

Access to the Capital One Landings is similar to the lounges except for the guest policy. Capital One has stated that Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business primary cardholders will have unlimited access. They can also enjoy complimentary entry for two guests per visit to the Capital One Lounges, but only one guest in the Landings (it costs $45 per visit for additional guests). Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cardholders can purchase access for $45. All other cardholders and non-customers can enter for $90. Children under age two can enter for free with a supervising parent or guardian. Access to all amenities is included with lounge entry.

Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business cardholders can make reservations in the Capital One app in advance (whether it’s several months or one day before) of their visit. I already made another reservation for next month. All Capital One cardholders will be able to see the real-time capacity of the Landing from the convenience of their phone.

If a Capital One Landing is on a waitlist, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business cardholders can join the waitlist digitally in the Capital One mobile app. They will be notified via text message when it’s their turn to enter the Landing, and can view their waitlist status within the Capital One app at any time. There is a 15-minute grace period for reservations and you may make as many as you like without a cancellation penalty.

When you arrive, a host will check you in and take you to your assigned table.

We were assigned table 16.

A QR code on the table has the menus and allows you to order as much food and as many drinks as you desire.

Anthony’s Take: I loved this concept and the execution was flawless. José Andrés is an incredible chef and humanitarian. His partnership here takes this to another level. The service was great, the restrooms are nice, and I loved that I was brought to a table without having to scrounge around to find an open seat, which is a problem in so many places. I can’t wait to go back next month.

Bar

The bar is on the left side of the lounge next to the tapas counter. It offers a good selection of wine, beer, and cocktails. There is actually no need to go to the bar as beverages can be ordered through the QR code on the table.

Here is the bar menu.

Self-serve soft drinks were found in two cases around the restaurant. Servers also offered to bring us drinks. A water dispenser was also found here.

Tea and more water were closer to the tapas counter.

Self-serve coffee was also available with a selection of condiments. Espresso can be ordered to your table.

Food

Dinner was being served during my visit. There is a tapas counter that offers some charcuterie, salads, and desserts. All other dishes are ordered via your phone and brought to your table.

I felt like I was in Spain with these offerings.

I could have eaten this entire tray.

I sampled a few items before ordering some tapas with the QR code.

The menu is easy to navigate and offered a decent number of choices.

The menu feels like something you would fine in one of José Andrés many restaurants. The quality of every dish was outstanding.

For dessert, I tried the incredible Basque Cheesecake (and ate it before I took a picture) as well as the Flan.

Capital One Landing DCA On the Fly

Seating & Decor

There are quite a few tables as well as bar seating here. The design is elegant. You feel like you’re in a nice restaurant in a major city versus in an airport lounge.

Capital One Lounge DCA 27

I loved the lighting that fills the ceiling in the center of the restaurant.

Amenities

This Capital One Landing offers free Wi-Fi, outlets at every table, two restrooms, luggage storage, and the food and beverages mentioned above.

The bathrooms were clean and nicely designed.

Even the bathroom had great art.

Overall Impression:

The only lounge that has wowed me to this level recently was the Delta One® Lounge at JFK (review here). Capital One has raised the bar and I can’t wait for the second location to open in New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) this year.

Anthony’s Credit Card Pick: I love the lounges that the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card allows me to access. I’ve been using this card more and more this year. While it does have an annual fee of $395, it provides many travel benefits like a $300 annual credit for bookings through Capital One Travel, up to a $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®, and 10x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel as well as 5x miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel. Learn more.
