JetBlue flight B6 161 was scheduled to fly from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) yesterday evening. This was held up by a male passenger who allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend before deploying the emergency slide and attempting to exit the aircraft as it was taxiing.

The Airbus A320 thankfully had an FBI agent on the flight. He was able to restrain the man before Massachusetts State Police took the man into custody. An eyewitness on the flight shared that the man “got mad, got up, walked down the center aisle, grabbed the emergency door, ripped it off, completely off.”

JetBlue swapped the aircraft rather than further delay passengers and they were on their way to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) with a delay of around three hours.

Anthony’s Take: It has not been revealed what caused the man’s outburst after his exchange with his girlfriend and why he would open an emergency exit to try to deplane while taxiing as a result of this argument. Luckily, JetBlue handled the situation well for the others on the flight.
