The Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort offers guests access to a private island that is filled with flamingos and iguanas that guests can feed. We stayed there for a few nights after Thanksgiving and it was one of the highlights of the trip for me.

The flamingos and iguanas roam around the island. Pellet food is sold for 25 cents and both the birds and lizards enjoy it.

Once you have your food, the flamingos will eat from your hands.

The iguanas lounge along the boardwalk and are a bit frightened by sudden movements. I slowly approached them and was able to hand feed the largest one.

The private island of the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort is divided between an adults-only and family section. Food and drinks, restrooms, and lots of chairs are available for guests to use.

Anthony’s Take: I love anything that allows me to feed animals. This was my first time ever feeding a flamingo and it was a memorable experience. I just wish I had more quarters for additional food.

That looks like a lot of fun. Since you’re into feeding things you might want to consider the Royal Orchid Sheraton in Bangkok. There’s a flock of peacocks that fly over from some nearby embassy to hang out by the pool area every day. Apparently peacocks will eat pretty much anything so finding something to draw their attention isn’t a tough chore and the experience is great.
