Hyatt House Chicago/West Loop-Fulton Market is located just a handful of blocks from my place in Chicago. Friends were recently visiting and they stayed at the hotel for two nights. World of Hyatt points were redeemed for their room and they enjoyed their stay.
Anthony’s Take: I have stayed at this hotel several times and always found it to be a step above other Hyatt House properties. The rooms are spacious and the hotel has a nice outdoor area as well as a pool and a lobby that you’ll want to work or relax in.
Booking
I booked a Standard Room Free Night rate for a Den | Two Queen Beds. Rates at this hotel are reasonable and the cash rate was $309 plus taxes. If not paying cash, you can expect a range of 12,000-18,000 per night when redeeming World of Hyatt points. This stay was 15,000 points per night.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I live in the West Loop, so we were able to walk to the hotel. If you’re traveling from one of the two Chicagoland airports, expect between 30 and 90 minutes to get to the hotel.
Location
The hotel is located in the West Loop. If you’re not familiar with the neighborhood, it has some of the city’s best restaurants and is a great place to hang out. The river and most tourist attractions are easily reached from here.
The check-in lobby is located on the third floor.
The elevators on the ground level can take you to your room directly, which is nice as other hotels require elevator changes when coming in from outside.
The lobby on the ground floor has some seating.
The lobby has tons of seating and is a great space for working, eating, or relaxing.
A bar lines one wall of the lobby.
The breakfast area is located near the back of the lobby. All guests receive complimentary breakfast.
Check-in
Once off the elevators on the third floor, the check-in desk is the first thing you’ll see. We arrived at the hotel around 4:30 PM. The room was ready (as expected). I was the only one checking in and was quickly assisted. The agent offered a late checkout and told me that I was upgraded to a High Floor Kitchen Suite | Two Queen Beds. This was a nice upgrade and provided a sizable space to stay in. A moment later we were back in the elevator and off to our room.
The hallways and elevator lobby were clean and well maintained. The design was nicer than most Hyatt House locations I have seen.
High Floor Kitchen Suite | Two Queen Beds (1201)
There are 200 rooms and suites at the hotel.
The room opened with the bathroom on the left. It had a large vanity with two sinks.
There were multiple bars of KenetMD soap and bottles of lotion on the counter.
The toilet was to the right.
The shower was a good size with decent water pressure and temperature.
Large bottles of toiletries were mounted in the shower.
Two queen-sized beds filled the bedroom. The suite is laid out well for guests that want a little privacy as there is a half wall between the beds.
The beds were comfortable with lots of outlets near them.
A TV was mounted between two wardrobes across from the beds.
The left closet held a safe.
The right one had an iron, ironing board, blankets, and a second safe.
A kitchen was off of the bedroom. It had a dishwasher, refrigerator, range, microwave, and more.
There were extra paper towels in one cabinet.
Another cabinet held glasses, a measuring cup, and a colander.
Dishes were in another cabinet.
One drawer was filled with utensils.
The drawer below it had pots and pans.
A table and chair were to the side of the kitchen.
A couch, two ottomans, and a table were on the other side of the room.
A second TV was located across from the couch.
Breakfast
Like all Hyatt House locations, this one offers complimentary breakfast. The breakfast room off of the lobby was closed when we arrived and we did not go to check it out in the morning.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, an indoor pool, a nice outdoor area, an H Market with snacks and drinks for sale by the front desk (pictured above), and a laundry room.
The fitness center had lots of natural light and Peloton Bikes.
The fitness center also offered plenty of free weights.
Towels were offered by a desk up front.
The indoor pool is next door. It smelled of chlorine.
An outdoor area had a TV and tables.
An outdoor kitchen with grills was available for guest use.
The views are great from this outdoor fire area.
An ATM is located near the check-in desk.
Washing machines and dryers are also available for guests.
A small business center is next to the front desk.
A water bowl and treats for dogs were offered in the ground-level lobby.
Overall Impression:
The Hyatt House Chicago/West Loop-Fulton Market is in a great location and is stylishly designed. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel offers a good number of amenities.
