The Park Hyatt Johannesburg was first announced back in 2022 with an anticipated opening date in early 2023. The conversion of the Winston Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg was delayed, but the images of this new Park Hyatt are gorgeous. The hotel just started accepting reservations for October 15th.
The Park Hyatt brand is returning to Johannesburg with this hotel’s opening. This is the second time that there has been a Park Hyatt in the city as the Hyatt Regency used to fly under that brand flag before a rebrand in 2007. It’s currently closed. The new Park Hyatt will offer 31 rooms, a pool, a spa, fitness center, meeting and event spaces, a restaurant, as well as a cigar lounge and a terrace where high tea will be served.
This boutique hotel will be the smallest Park Hyatt in the world. There are two room types: 1 King Bed or 1 King Bed View. Additionally, there are four suites including a Junior Suite with Garden, The Winston Suite, Wellness Suite, and Rosebank Suite.
This will be a Category 5 hotel, which means that World of Hyatt award redemptions will cost between 17,000 to 23,000 points per night. It’s interesting to note that this hotel will be classified as a Category 5. Most other hotels under the Park Hyatt brand are Category 7 or 8.
Anthony’s Take: I was supposed to go to Johannesburg, but then the pandemic hit. I hope to go there in the future and this hotel looks like a good choice.
