Nicki Minaj live-streamed herself yesterday morning as she was apparently arrested at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) over marijuana possession. The rapper shares airport officials telling Minaj she is under arrest and that her personal bags need to be searched in the Instagram Live video that has since been reshared across social media platforms.
A video begins with a man in a grey suit telling her that the authorities need to search her bags.

A subsequent video clip shows a police officer informing her that she is under arrest. Minaj is instructed to get into an official vehicle so that she can be escorted to the police station. She replies: “I’m not going in there. I need a lawyer present.” Eventually, she relents and gets into the vehicle. Minaj is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. She was supposed to travel to Manchester yesterday for a concert last night, but that show has been postponed. It’s unclear if she was booked by police in Amsterdam, but she made it to Manchester based on other tweets posted last night.
😩 now they said they found weed & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls. Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh yea & the pilot wants me to take my ig post down.

The official in the first video tells her that they did a “random, quick check” of her luggage before it was boarded on her private plane. Minaj apparently filmed the officer and he ordered a more thorough inspection of her bags. Marijuana was found in one of the bags and one of Minaj’s security detail claimed it was his. This did not stop the search or her from being detained.
Anthony’s Take: We’ll see if anything further comes from this incident. Marijuana usage is allowed in coffee shops, but it cannot be openly smoked on the streets. Laws around possession are not enforced for up to five grams held by people over 18 years.
