Volaris is a Mexican low-cost airline that flies nonstop to 18 destinations in the United States. The airline just added a new route and expanded the frequencies on some of its flights to/from Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) to counter those added recently by Aeromexico (more here).

Last week, Aeromexico added four routes to/from Guadalajara International Airport (GDL). These include:

  • Denver International Airport (DEN) (1x weekly on Saturdays; runs December 21st through April 19th)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) (daily; runs December 19th through January 12th)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA) (up to 7x weekly; runs December 19th through March 30th)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO) (up to 7x weekly; runs December 19th through March 30th)

In response to these additions, Volaris is bumping its flights to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) from 2x to 3x daily. It’s also doubling flights to/from both Miami International Airport (MIA) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) from 1x to 2x daily. Volaris will also begin flying between San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) 1x daily starting on March 20th.

Currently, Volaris serves the following cities:

    • Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT)
    • Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
    • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
    • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
    • Denver International Airport (DEN)
    • Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT)
    • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
    • Miami International Airport (MIA)
    • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
    • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
    • Portland International Airport (PDX)
    • Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO)
    • San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK)
    • Sacramento International Airport (SMF)
    • San Antonio International Airport (SAT)
    • San José Mineta International Airport (SJC)
    • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
    • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Anthony’s Take: I’ve never flown Volaris, but have been intrigued by the livery when I see planes at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). I’m open to trying the airline if the schedule worked for me.
