Two bodies were found in the landing gear of a JetBlue Airbus A320 that had just arrived at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) operating as flight B6 1801.

Maintenance workers made the discovery while inspecting the aircraft. Neither body has been identified and it’s unknown how they gained access to the wheel well.

JetBlue issued a statement on the sad situation. It reads:

Tragically, both individuals were deceased. At this time, the identities of the individuals and the circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft remain under investigation. This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred.”

This happens more often than one might think. Last month, I wrote about a dead body that was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines Boeing 787-10 after it landed at Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG). Flight UA202 had just arrived from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) when the troubling discovery was made.

Anthony’s Take: It will be interesting to see what details emerge here as this situation is investigated. It’s sad to see folks lose their lives like this and makes you wonder what they were running from.
