Spirit Airlines is wasting no time in filling in gaps left by JetBlue after it was deemed that the two would not be merging (more here). Daily flights between New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Charleston International Airport (CHS) begin on April 10th.

Charleston

JetBlue used to fly between the two airports, but recently ended it when they had to return slots to American Airlines. Now, Spirit will fly the route daily on an Airbus A320. Delta Air Lines also flies between New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Charleston International Airport (CHS) 3x to 4x daily with Canadair RJ 900 and Embraer 175 aircraft. These flights are operated by Republic Airways and Endeavor Air for Delta Connection.

Anthony’s Take: Spirit has not let the dust settle on the JetBlue merger and is already picking up routes it used to fly. We’ll see if American Airlines sees an opportunity to also compete here.
