Southwest Airlines is getting ready to help passengers get to some warmer weather in Mexico and the Caribbean for spring break 2024. The airline will add three new, sunny destinations and cut one of its current domestic routes.

New Routes

Southwest will add three new routes starting on March 29th and operating on Saturdays. These include flights between:

  • Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport (SJU)
  • St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)
  • Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Belize’s Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE)

Washington DC

Cut Route

Southwest will be removing flights between Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW). The last flight will be on March 6th.

Anthony’s Take: I don’t fly Southwest, but nonstop flights for spring break will make life easier for many travelers next year.

This is kind of a big deal for STL as they don’t have a lot of international routes. The problem I can see is that many people don’t want to spend a week in places like Cabo so a 1x weekly isn’t awesome.
