On Thursday, British Airways flight BA348 from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) had one passenger who looked like she was in a deep sleep. Unfortunately, she wasn’t and had passed away inflight.

The flight was delayed and the elderly woman had settled in and went to sleep while waiting. When the plane arrived (almost two hours late), the passenger did not move. Others tried to wake her, but could not. Paramedics also arrived and tried to resuscitate her to no avail. It’s speculated that she suffered a heart attack during the flight.

A British Airways spokesperson gave a statement to Insider:

Sadly, a customer passed away on a flight from London Heathrow to Nice. Our thoughts are with the customer’s family at this difficult time.”

Anthony’s Take: The loss of a life is always sad, but I can think of much worse ways to go. My condolences to her family and friends.
