I have long been a fan of Yardbird and dined at its restaurants in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, and even Singapore. The biscuits are to die for and everything we’ve eaten at any of the locations has been delicious. We met up with friends for brunch today and while the food was on a par with past experiences, the service was lacking.

Anthony’s Take: Yard Bird offers filling, Southern dishes in a modern yet rustic environment. I highly recommend the biscuits whether you’re there for brunch or dinner. Service was a little off on this visit, but we’ll be back again.

Yardbird Decor 1

Decor & Vibe

All of the Yardbird locations feature what I call a modern, rustic look. Think distressed woods and leathers and decor that feels homey yet stylish.

Yardbird Bar

The bar is in the front of the restaurant and tables and booths were scattered throughout.

Yardbird Kitchen

An open kitchen overlooks the dining room and we were able to watch our food being prepared.

Yardbird Menu

Food

The brunch menu has a good variety of Southern dishes, salads, brunch classics, and home-baked goods.

Yardbird Crispy Chicken Biscuit

We started with the Crispy Chicken Biscuit, which has always been my favorite.

Yardbird Bagel

As an entree, I had the Literally Everything Bagel & Lox. It had a ton of avocado. It was decent, but nothing memorable. I tried to go lighter since we were eating so much at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival.

Yardbird French Toast

My husband had the Blueberry French Toast Fritters. They were delicious (I stole a bite).

Yardbird Bloody Mary

Drinks

Yardbird offers an impressive cocktail menu and wine list. My friend got a Bloody Mary. We ordered unsweetened iced tea. Oddly, our iced tea took about 15-20 minutes to arrive after his drink was there. This was about the level of service we encountered throughout the meal. The server took our order and then came back 10 minutes later to say the computer had went down and she needed the order again. When the food came, three of the four entrees were right. The incorrect one was quickly remedied.

Yardbird

Overall Impression:

The food at Yardbird continues to be solid. The service on this visit was not good. It was clear the server was either new or distracted. We had fun with our friends and enjoyed the meal.

Interesting dichotomy between the indoor and outdoor decor. The outside screams art deco while inside is sort of hipster industrial. Still, nice to see old Miami Beach buildings being used rather than destroyed. How’s their regular menu?

The dinner menu is good. I had amazing lobster mac and cheese there as well as the chicken biscuits.

They use nasty thigh meat in the biscuits and the “famous” fried chicken is not cooked to order:(

I find thigh meat tasty. It holds moisture better than chicken breasts. These were delicious.

Hi Jeremy, Thanks for reaching out. As I said in the post, we’ll be back. I have had consistently good experiences at Yardbird and know this was just a service miss. I present my reviews as any diner would experience.
