Marriott International, Inc. has revealed that it will be opening over 35 luxury hotels next year. Marriott’s luxury portfolio includes some of my favorite brands like The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, W Hotels, and The Luxury Collection, plus Ritz-Carlton Reserve, EDITION, JW Marriott, and Bulgari Hotels & Resorts.

The Ritz Carlton & Ritz Carlton Reserve

The Ritz Carlton brand added two new hotels in 2022 including New York, Nomad and Amman. New hotels coming in 2023 include:

St. Regis NYC

St. Regis

The St. Regis is my favorite luxury brand. In 2022, it opened properties in Doha, Goa, Kuwait, and Jakarta. In 2023, it will open the following:

W Hotels

W Hotels

I have stayed at many of the 67 W Hotels. It was exciting to have one in Hoboken when I lived there and I have returned to that hotel many times through the years. In 2022, the brand expanded with the W Algarve, W Costa Navarino, W Dubai – Mina Seyahi, and W Toronto. In 2023, there will be new W Hotels in these locations:

Edition Hotels

EDITION

I have yet to stay at one of these hotels. They’re stingy with elite benefits, but I do like the design. In 2022, they opened in Madrid and Tampa (my other home; I need to check this one out). In 2023, the brand will expand from 15 to 21 properties with:

Al Maha

The Luxury Collection

Some of the most unique hotels in the Marriott portfolio operate under this flag. It’s long been one of my favorite brands (since it was part of Starwood Preferred Guest). In 2022, the brand added Santo Mauro (in Madrid, Spain), Cosme (in Paros, Greece), and The Tasman (in Hobart, Tasmania). In 2023, it will be opening:

JW Marriott

JW Marriott

I’ve always thought of this brand as a luxury/business hybrid. In 2022, new hotels opened under this brand in São Paulo, Changsha, Istanbul, Bangalore, and Frankfurt (I got to stay here in August and it was great). In 2023, the brand will expand to:

Anthony’s Take: More luxury hotel choices are always a good thing. When I can earn points and take advantage of elite benefits, even better. There are definitely some additions to my favorite brands that I will check out.

Anthony’s Credit Card Pick: When I’m staying at a Marriott hotel, I want to maximize my points earned. My card of choice is the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card. With it, I earn six Marriott Bonvoy® points for each dollar spent at hotels participating in the Marriott Bonvoy program. It also includes up to $300 statement credits per calendar year (up to $25 per month ) for dining in restaurants worldwide. Plus, a free night award that I can redeem at any Marriott hotel with a redemption level at or under 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points. Terms apply.
