Hyatt announced today that its acquisition of Mr & Mrs Smith has been finalized. The luxury hotel booking platform offers direct bookings at a collection of over 1,500 boutique and luxury properties. The acquisition includes 100% of the asset-light, London-based company with a price tag of around $56 million.
Now, the big question remains what will be offered to World of Hyatt members once the hotels begin to be sold by Hyatt. Guesses are that the partnership will be similar to what it currently offers with its Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) tie up. Mr & Mrs Smith currently has a partnership with IHG Rewards (that will likely dissolve soon). Elite members receive the following benefits:
IHG One Rewards members receive:
- 10 points per $1 (on eligible room rates)
- A BlackSmith welcome gift (subject to availability)
- Bonus points on every stay (Silver Elite = 20%; Gold Elite = 40%; Platinum Elite = 60%; Spire Elite = 100%)
InterContinental® Ambassadors, Royal Ambassadors and Kimpton® Inner Circle members will receive:
- 10 points per $1 (on eligible room rates)
- A GoldSmith welcome gift (subject to availability)
- Bonus points on every stay (Silver Elite = 20%; Gold Elite = 40%; Platinum Elite = 60%; Spire Elite = 100%)
- Complimentary room upgrade (up to one category higher, subject to availability upon arrival)
Nothing has been announced for World of Hyatt members, but we should hear more in the near term.
Anthony’s Take: I love the current partnership that Hyatt has with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). I hope that once Mr & Mrs Smith hotels become available for booking that similar benefits are offered.
