While the food served on board might be fit for canines, United’s Polaris® seats are comfortable and the bedding is top notch. A spoiled pair of Yorkshire Terriers got to experience this (and apparently it’s not the first time) on a recent flight. The video does not say where the pair are headed, but they’re going in style.

Amy and Emily (the dogs) are reportedly “task-trained, service animals” that are “able to fly carrier free.” It’s not revealed what task they perform, but the adorable pair barely fills a quarter of the lie-flat seat.

Traveling with pets is a contentious issue as some people feel they should be in carriers, have allergies, or are uncomfortable around dogs. I love dogs and am fine with them being out on flights as long as they’re not barking, going to the bathroom, or creating any other issues.

BARK Air

When not flying Polaris, dogs now have a dedicated charter airline called BARK Air. The creators of BarkBox (monthly subscription boxes for bogs) has partnered with a jet charter service to offer a “white glove experience typical of a human’s first-class experience and redirected all that pampering to pooches.” These flights cost $6,000 each way for the pooch and owner to travel and offer dogs a less stressful experience filled with toys, treats, and other amenities to calm them. BARK Air currently flies between Los Angeles, New York, and London for these charters.

Anthony’s Take: I would smile to see two Yorkies taking up a Polaris® seat. I’m curious to know if they found the meal palatable. Pets are family and if you have the means then spoil them.
