Delta Air Lines trimmed its schedule a bit this week with four routes dropped altogether. These seem centered around financial performance or too much competition on a route in the case of its flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

Delta is once again cutting this London route. It resumed flying between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) in March 2023 after an eight-year hiatus. The last flight is scheduled for May 7th. Passengers looking to fly nonstop from LAX have multiple options including 2x daily flights from United Airlines and up to 3x daily frequencies on Virgin Atlantic.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will also see flights to Dallas Love Field (DAL) removed from the schedule on May 7th. Other than flights to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) (which fly up to 6x daily), Delta will have no service to Dallas Love Field (DAL). Southwest flies to/from LAX up to 6x daily and controls almost all of the gates at this airport.

Two point-to-point Florida routes from Westchester County Airport (HPN) are being chopped on May 6th. Both Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) will no longer be served by Delta from this airport. JetBlue will continue flying from Westchester County Airport (HPN) to Orlando International Airport (MCO)  up to 3x daily and to Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) up to 6x daily.

Anthony’s Take: Delta cut back some routes this week. It looks like Delta has already replaced the LAX flight with a third-daily flight between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) slot. Thanks, Matt for the info!

The two routes from HPN being cut (MCO and PBI) were both seasonal to begin with.
