Avelo Airlines is a low-cost carrier that launched in 2021. The airline operates a fleet of modern Boeing 737 aircraft and serves destinations across the United States. Avelo competes with Spirit Airways, Breeze Airways, Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines. The carrier announced four new routes to/from Charles M. Schulz –Sonoma County Airport (STS). This doubles the number of destinations served from the Bay Area airport.

The new routes include:

  • Boise Airport (BOI) (2x weekly on Thursdays and Sundays; starts on May 2nd)
  • Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) (2x weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays; starts on May 1st)
  • Salem Municipal Airport (SLE) (2x weekly on Mondays and Fridays; starts on May 3rd)
  • Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) (2x weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays; starts on May 1st)

Avelo Airlines is also establishing Charles M. Schulz –Sonoma County Airport (STS) as a base as of May 1st. Avelo will initially house two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft at the airport. It expects to employ as many as 50 pilots, flight attendants, and maintenance technicians there.

Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO, Andrew Levy, said:

Sonoma County Airport is by far the Bay Area’s best airport – its small, smooth and seamless travel experience is unmatched by any other airport in the region. Which is why we are doubling the number of nonstop destinations Avelo offers from STS. With eight popular nonstop routes spanning the West Coast, Avelo makes getting to and from the Bay Area and California Wine Country more affordable and easier than ever. These new routes are just a preview of the exciting opportunities ahead for Avelo when our new STS base opens in May.”

Anthony’s Take: Avelo’s route map continues to grow. I still have them on my list and will book a flight to Delaware for the novelty of flying into the state and to try out the carrier.
